In Arabic, the word ‘Sadaqah’ literally means ‘righteousness’ and is derived from the root word’sidq’, which means sincerity, meaning that Sadaqah is sincerity of faith and virtuous action that leads to a healthy and balanced community.

According to Bukhari, the Prophet Muhammed (saw) was ‘more generous than the blowing wind’.
